All government clinics and hospitals under the Ministry of Health (MoH) will soon be accepting cashless payment methods.
This is according to a circular issued by the ministry’s secretary-general Harjeet Singh dated 21 June, which said that the transition will be effective from 1 October.
However, cash payments will still be allowed.
Harjeet said the reasons for going cashless are:
📌 Reducing the risk of leakage of public funds;
📌 More efficient and smooth counter services;
📌 Cutting operational costs and processes; and
📌 Reducing the risk of Covid-19 transmission via a contactless platform.
He added that the ministry expects 95% of transactions at its hospitals and clinics to be cashless by the end of the year.
