All government clinics and hospitals under the Ministry of Health (MoH) will soon be accepting cashless payment methods.
This is according to a circular issued by the ministryโ€™s secretary-general Harjeet Singh dated 21 June, which said that the transition will be effective from 1 October.
However, cash payments will still be allowed.
Harjeet said the reasons for going cashless are:
๐Ÿ“Œ Reducing the risk of leakage of public funds;
๐Ÿ“Œ More efficient and smooth counter services;
๐Ÿ“Œ Cutting operational costs and processes; and
๐Ÿ“Œ Reducing the risk of Covid-19 transmission via a contactless platform.
He added that the ministry expects 95% of transactions at its hospitals and clinics to be cashless by the end of the year.
